After a historic season where he became the league’s all-time leading scorer, LeBron James is gearing up for another important chapter in his legendary career. On Thursday morning, Nike officially announced the details of James’ 21st signature sneaker.

Throughout the summer, basketball fans have drooled over pictures of the unreleased Nike LeBron 21. Luckily for sneakerheads, the wait will not last much longer. The Nike LeBron 21 is scheduled to launch on Thursday, September 28, for $200 in adult sizes. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the newest signature sneakers for the Los Angeles Lakers forward.

Supporting one of the most powerful players ever to step foot on an NBA court is no easy task. The design team utilized lightweight materials, while the upper’s venting is striated to look like the veining of a shell to help contain the player during explosive movements.

That containment is visualized by a lightweight mono-mesh reinforced by 360 degrees of zonal cables around the midfoot, helping support and secure the player over the footbed. Perforations on the medial Swoosh logos provide enhanced breathability.

Underfoot, the shoe features a Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot and a bottom-loaded, 13-millimeter Zoom unit to support propulsion. A full-length Cushlon 2.0 foam carrier for a pillowy feel and a TPU midfoot shank provide stability and extra pop for dynamic movements.

Building on the success of its predecessor, the LeBron 21 evolves the low-cut profile with premium lightweight materials modeled after the properties of an oyster shell. The performance basketball shoe is built to serve the next generation of hoopers and is inspired by James’ daughter, Zhuri.

“As we took our next steps from the LeBron XX, we were inspired by the way LeBron maintains his body and his game during the offseason,” says Jason Petrie, Lead Designer for the LeBron 21. “His trainer says it’s like taking care of an F1 car. You tweak the car between each race. You don’t need to rebuild the car completely. We wanted to retain some of the elements we know he loved, like the Zoom Turbo unit, but refine some of the finishes in the upper.”

With the 2023-24 NBA season right around the corner, there are not many more individual accolades left for James to acquire. At this point in his career, James is focused on winning and setting up the next generation of athletes for success. Stay tuned to FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news.
