Patrick Mahomes shares the real story behind this year’s game-winning score as he maintains that the Chiefs WILL complete a historic Super Bowl three-peat

Patrick Mahomes insisted the Kansas City Chiefs will seal the historic Super Bowl three-peat next February in New Orleans.

Mahomes and the Chiefs won their second consecutive championship over the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year, and a victory from next season’s title matchup would be the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era.

The Green Bay Packers‘ trio of NFL titles from 1965-1967 was the last three-peat in American football history, just before the first Super Bowl.

Mahomes also revealed the game-winning touchdown thrown to Mecole Hardman in overtime was not designed with the receiver as the primary target. Yet, the 49ers defense left him in the slot wide open.

The play’s intention was a shovel pass to Jerick McKinnon to try and win the game. Then Mahomes saw Hardman open with only the end zone, and a second-straight Super Bowl win, in front of him.

Hardman’s winning score was a play named ‘corndog’, with a receiver faking his intent to go across the field, then shuffling back to the direction he came from.

That play was also ran with Kadarius Toney in Hardman’s spot for a 5-yard touchdown against the Eagles in last year’s Super Bowl.

Who will be the targeted receiver for that dream-worthy third straight Super Bowl corndog touchdown?

Hardman is a free agent and Toney has fallen out of favor with the Chiefs after a few missteps late last season.

There is always Travis Kelce waiting in the wings, who no doubt will have plenty of eyes on him.
