- DJ Khaled bought a new Audemars Piguet watch
- The watch was co-designed by fellow rap music artist Travis Scott
- It is limited to 201 pieces
DJ Khaled has bought a new watch, a limited-edition collaboration between Audemars Piguet and rapper Travis Scott.
And the watch actually perfectly matches his Maybach.
But we’re sure that’s just a coincidence.
DJ Khaled is obsessed with his caramel-colored Maybach S-Class, which he calls ‘Cappuccino’.
The Maybach ‘Cappuccino’ was customized specifically for Khaled, and it reflects the rapper’s love for this particular tone, which is a unique shade of brown that’s halfway between chocolate and caramel.
Or cappuccino, as he would put it.
The watch matches the car because it was co-designed by another rapper that’s obsessed with this color, Travis Scott.
In fact, Scott loves it so much that his entire car collection is finished in ‘Cappuccino’ brown.
Literally every car he owns is like that, because he actually sold the only non-brown car he owned, a red Ferrari, a while back.
The limited-edition watch, based on the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Off-Shore, comes in this unique colorway designed by Travis Scott and his record label ‘Cactus Jack’.
Everything about the watch follows the same color theme, including the ceramic case, the watch strap, and the watch clasp.
The only things that aren’t finished in this unique hue are the watch hands, particularly the second hand which is red, the hour markers, and the Cactus Jack logo at six o’clock.
Production is limited to 201 units, with a retail price of $201,000.
The price tag is quite hefty, but it’s actually a red herring because this timepiece is – like most watches of this type – impossible to find at retail.
AP, just like other equivalent brands, operates like a luxury automaker, meaning you simply can’t go and buy one.
You’ve got to be approved first.
As a result, while we’re sure DJ Khaled paid the retail price for the watch, other people can’t because the watch is already trading way above the sticker on the pre-owned market.
On Chrono24 – arguably the go-to place for pre-owned watches – there are only four on sale, each with a $600,000+ price tag attached to it.
