If JJ Redick signs a contract with the Lakers, Byron Scott gives him wise advise.

After yet another collapse against the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs, a plethora of big headlines came out of the Anthony Davis-led Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James’ free agency was one of them and the other was their search for a new head coach to replace Darvin Ham. There has been a short list of candidates like Micah Nori, Sam Cassell, and James Borrego. But, none have been as intriguing as JJ Redick. The fact that the analyst and former player had no head coaching experience on the professional level even raised Byron Scott’s eyebrows.

Byron Scott amid JJ Redick bid to coach Lakers led by Anthony Davis and LeBron James

JJ Redick has insane ball knowledge. He has shown it in podcasts like The Old Man and The Three and Mind The Game all the way to the sidelines with his reporting. Unfortunately, the Lakers’ head coaching position has got to be one of the most scrutinized seats in all of sports. The fact that LeBron James is considering free agency and that Anthony Davis had some statements about their coaching during losses in the NBA Playoffs makes it tougher.

Then, Lakers great Byron Scott added some gas to the already scorching hot flame, via TMZ Sports.

“It’s hard jumping in that seat as a first-time head coach. I don’t know if he has what it takes to be a great head coach in the NBA but again if he gets that opportunity, we’ll find out real soon,” he said about JJ Redick.

There is still no certainty that the Lakers are going to hire Redick for the position. But, if the Purple and Gold do so, Byron Scott can already see how this situation will be. It might be similar to an acquisition made by the Brooklyn Nets not too long ago.

“[Nash] never had any coaching experience and it didn’t really work out well in Brooklyn for him,” he declared.

While he had some hard-hitting truths got dropped on the analyst, Byron Scott still offered to help the Lakers just in case. After all, he did win the 2008 Coach of the Year award with the New Orleans Hornets.
