Hostess with the most-est.
This is the year of Anne Hathaway — well, judging from her back-to-back independent films (see: Eileen and She Came to Me) and her complete fashion renaissance (see: becoming the face of Versace and Shiseido), at least. So, it’s no surprise that the actress had another successful night on Monday at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City, where she hosted and presented the evening’s American Womenswear Designer of the Year Award all while dressing up a closet staple with diamonds.
Hathaway arrived at the star-studded event in a two-piece denim set from Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear collection reminiscent of the denim dress Britney Spears wore to the 2001 American Music Awards. The head-to-toe denim look featured a strapless floral-printed corset with a coordinating light-wash skirt and a dramatic train. A smattering of Bulgari diamonds — including a massive necklace with a sapphire diamond in the center, a diamond wrap bracelet, several rings, and coordinating drop earrings — accessorized her dress, and a pair of silver Jimmy Choo sandals and a matching clutch provided the finishing touches to her evening look.
As for her beauty look, celebrity hairstylist Orlando Pita styled Hathaway’s brunette hair with tousled loose waves using Orlando Pita Play, and she complemented her glowing complexion with smoky eye shadow, feathered lashes, and pink lip gloss.
Lately, the actress has been taking a page out of the Gen Z fashion playbook — and making sure to give them all the credit. Just last month, Hathaway confirmed what every Gen Z-er has been saying by co-signing the trend that skinny jeans are officially out. Taking its place? Bigger, baggier denim. Spotted out and about in NYC, the actress sported just that: a pair of baggy cigarette-wash jeans with massively oversized square-shaped pockets in the front.
