When Ayesha Alexander eventually attended her first basketball game at the age of 19, she had no prior basketball knowledge. At a small school in North Carolina, Alexander had begun dating the star player and wanted to see what all the excitement was about while still lending her support.
Ayesha was astounded to see so many jerseys sporting the name of the young guy she had met five years earlier at a Charlotte neighborhood youth group as she entered the Baker Sports Complex, home of the Davidson Wildcats.
That was over seven years ago. You may recognize that pair as Ayesha and Stephen Curry from today.
After Ayesha wed the NBA star in 2011, the couple welcomed Riley and Ryan, two stunning daughters. She comes from an artistic background, so she’s not surprised by her husband’s success and development over the last ten years. In reality, she was unaware that Steph’s father, Del, was a celebrity before the two got involved.
Ayesha told ABC News, “We just got back from visiting his house in Charlotte.”
Stephen gives all the credit in the world to Ayesha, the 27-year-old cook, writer, and entrepreneur—especially in light of the hectic summer that followed Golden State’s NBA Championship run.
“How do we operate?” stated Ayesha. “By keeping it out of my mind.”
The 2015 NBA MVP recently completed his Under Armour tour in Asia, and this week he was honored to be on the cover of the brand-new NBA 2K16. For a professional athlete, landing the cover of a video game is about as good as it gets.
“A dream come true, this is.” Since I was a young 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥, I have played video games,” Stephen remarked. “Every year, you’re curious about the person on the cover when you see the new games that are being released. That type of information is what you recall. It’s fantastic to be able to display my cover with the games I have on my shelf.
Ayesha offers Steph’s historic run an outsider’s viewpoint.
She remarked, “I don’t think he’s even had time to think about what’s happened.” He doesn’t give it much thought. Though it’s clear he’s proud, family comes first. He’s still the same Steph at home.
Without a doubt, one of the NBA’s biggest stars is 27-year-old Stephen. Even with his well-known lineage, he claimed that there weren’t many suitors when he graduated from high school in the late 2000s.
“There was undoubtedly a certain amount of expectation and pressure, particularly from the Charlotte and North Carolina area, where I grew up and Del made his name,” Steph remarked. “I came up through the ranks and everything; I was Del’s son. I was the center of attention when I played varsity in high school.
But Steph claimed that “there was no story around me” when he left his small community.
He continued, “Being a scrawny kid, I was passed over by college coaches from higher Division 1 schools who wanted to recruit me and offer me scholarships.” “There was pressure, but there was also a chance for me to take the underdog and write my narrative.”
Curry claimed that although he received numerous “superficial” calls from college coaches, he ultimately received only three scholarship offers.
“Davidson was the only person who visited my house, knocked on my front door, and spoke with my family. He stated, “The rest is history.”
History is accurate. Steph, in just his first year, guided his school to the Elite 8. With almost 2,600 career points, he leads Davidson in scoring as well. In 2009, he led the NCAA in scoring as well.
Steph stated that it was all intentional.
“I knew as soon as I arrived that I wanted to leave my mark and show [those who passed on me] what they were missing,” he remarked.
After being selected to the All-Rookie team in 2010 and being selected to two All-Star teams in the subsequent years, Curry has played a significant role in the Warriors’ recent victory, their first in forty years. To stay at the top, he nevertheless intends to battle every day.
“I don’t really promote workouts, but all of this is made possible by the time and effort you put in,” he remarked. “I spend about four or five hours a day doing strength and conditioning or on-the-court exercises.”
That’s my routine, but I also experiment with other things like cycling lessons, beach runs, and other things. Regarding his busy schedule these days, he continued, “You have to be creative, especially traveling back and forth, coast to coast.”
He also practices shooting a lot, which accounts for his exquisite stroke.
He remarked, “I walk into the gym and give my trainer the look.” 150 of your 400 shots will be pressure shots, and you will be penalized if you miss 5 of 7 in a row. I also play a game where the object is to make three consecutive shots for five different positions on the court. In two and a half minutes, there will be two in a row, followed by one from each slot. I’m not leaving the gym until I’ve completed that. Ayesha’s “Pack of Wolf”
Even though Steph leads a hectic life, his wife is equally engulfed and overburdened; she only lacks supporters.
Steph said to ABC News, “I am fortunate to have a wife who is willing to travel with me.” “I’m not sure what I would do if she couldn’t accompany me to various occasions. My daughter is two months old, and she has already experienced ten trips. As new parents, we are still learning how to handle a lot.
In the kitchen, Ayesha has essentially established a brand for herself.
“We travel as a pack, our little wolf pack,” she remarked, noting that she usually has “a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 hanging off me or Riley is sitting at my feet playing with Legos” as she records her food demos or writes her blog.
Furthermore, “Steph is the most involved father.” I’m very fortunate to have him as my spouse since he approaches life and his daily activities with such humility.
Ayesha’s most recent endeavor involves a partnership with TJ Maxx, but in true Curry style, the promotion of women is just as vital as the brand.
She stated, “We are attempting to highlight the reality that all mothers and women are extraordinary.” According to our research, only 19% of women thought this about themselves. The others believe they are merely mediocre.
“I also thought of myself as average before becoming a mom for the second time this summer,” she went on. We all need to make a shift in that.
Ayesha hopes to have her own food show and cookbook in five years. And who assists with household cooking these days? Riley, naturally.
Riley, however, is only three years old, and she has no idea how famous she became when her father chose to take her to an NBA Finals post-game news conference back in May.
And that’s just how we want to maintain it, Ayesha clarified. “Who knows what would happen if she found out? She already has so much personality.”
