Needing a miracle to save their season and make the playoffs, one piece to that puzzle for the Halos will simply have to wait a bit longer.

Though it was projected that he’d return sooner rather than later, Angels All-Star Mike Trout’s wrist is still not fully healed and his day to day timetable remains very much in play.

“Yes, Jordyn went out, but if we don’t feel Mike is ready, we have other options there too,” Nevin said. “Mike is gonna come in and see how he feels tomorrow. He feels a lot better today. But as far as getting into a game and baseball action, it’s something that we’ll have to make a decision on tomorrow.”

Despite some earlier roster moves being made in anticipation for his return, Trout’s wrist may not be 100% to where he can return to game action.

Trout’s season has sadly been a familiar tale of the past two previous ones as injuries have held back what’s been solid starts to eventually doom the playoff hopes of himself and his team due to his absence.

Shohei Ohtani, try as he might, is showing signs that he can’t win for Anaheim on his own and Trout’s lack of availability has been disappointing for his goals to make the playoffs.

Not for a lack of trying, Trout’s body simply has not cooperated with him for the last three seasons as the Angels risk another losing season without playoff baseball at the Big A.

While encouraging that a talent of Trout’s caliber is set to return, Anthony Rendon and his contract remain MIA for the Halos this year.

Trout’s return will be welcomed back with open arms, but like previous seasons, it might be a case of too little and too late for the Angels’ playoff hopes.
