Billionaire Howard Hughes’ stunning former mansion hits the market for $23 MILLION – two decades after the Los Angeles property featured in Leonardo DiCaprio-led biopic The Aviator

A Los Angeles mansion that once belonged to Howard Hughes has hit the market for a cool $23 million.

The residence also boasts a second claim to fame, having served as one of the film sets for The Aviator, the 2004 Martin Scorsese-directed biopic about Hughes.

Hughes, who was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 in 1905 and died in an airplane en route to his native Houston in 1976, was famed as a filmmaker as well as a business mogul and record-setting pilot.

The property, located in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Central LA, borders the eighth green of the golf course owned by the historic Wilshire Country Club.

Hughes shot to fame in 1920s Hollywood as the man behind boundary-pushing, often controversy-stirring films including The Racket (1928), Hell’s Angels (1930), The Outlaw (1943) and more.

He also set multiple world air-speed records and constructed the largest flying boat in history, also cementing his status in history as an aviation pioneer.

The billionaire – whose exact net worth is disputed – led a famously eccentric life, albeit one marred by mental illness and drug addiction. His tumultuous yet fascinating biography inspired the 2004 biopic The Aviator, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio as Hughes.

He moved into the Hancock Park mansion in 1928 – and, years later, the residence would make an appearance in one of in Scorsese’s film.

The more than 10,000 square-foot home encompasses eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.

Each bedroom comes with spacious closet space and en-suite baths – as well as stunning views of the nearly 0.7 acre grounds.

Also notable the 24-foot-long marble-top countertop island in the chef’s kitchen, while brass-topped counterspace and matching wall panels line the edge of the room.

The kitchen opens into a small sitting area flanked by floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

The property is a perfect one for the natural party-host, with the outdoor area offering an a pool, jacuzzi, a custom-built stone pizza oven and several lounge areas.

An attached guest residence comes with a full kitchen and bathroom.

The estate, featuring Spanish Revival architecture, is situated behind a gated driveway, which culminates in a motor court, three-car garage and an adjacent workshop.
