After famously flipping her former Malibu home (the one she decorated with the help of her Mum, Tish, in flamboyant, Memphis Milano style) last year for a tidy profit, Miley Cyrus has bought again in Malibu, California. Fresh from selling her Nashville ranch for $21.2 million, the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer has signed the deeds to a 6,568 square foot, six-bedroom, 6.5- bathroom home, which she paid US$7.9 million for.

Built in 1999, the property sits on a 1.48-acre lot in a gated hillside community—which celebrities of Miley’s ilk tend to love for the privacy it affords. But it’s hillside vantage point also gives the house incredible views of the Malibu coastline, a detail that no doubt factored into its double-digit price. The Mediterannean-style villa is rather chill from the outside, it’s painted white walls flanked by giant palm trees and a luscious green lawn. Boasting a heated swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers and a matching spa, there’s an impressive paved outdoor area that’s perfect for alfresco entertaining.

Inside, the house’s cool and calm open-plan layout features high ceilings, white walls and plenty of large glass sliding doors that open out onto the private garden and backyard.

Floors are a practical mixture of tiles and timber floorboards, and LED fixtures play up on the property’s ample natural light.

The listing states there are three entertaining areas, including a living room with fireplace, formal dining room and billiard room with pool table.

The kitchen’s blend of white cabinets and granite benchtops plays up on the minimal interiors, while the attached butler’s pantry ensures this is a space equipped for handling multiple guests.

On the upstairs level, a generously sized main bedroom offers more stunning Malibu beach views, while the room features a sitting area, fireplace, balcony and attached bathroom with a built-in bathtub. In fact, all six bedrooms in the home feature ensuite bathrooms, making this a comfortable dwelling for hosting visitors.

Of course, given Cyrus’s known proclivity for bold and colourful interiors and her own irreverent, punk-tinged personal style, we’re not sure the house will stay this minimalist for long. Her previous home featured everything from a neon-lit studio, to tiger face Gucci wallpaper, not to mention an entire sitting room dedicated to leopard print, velvet lounges and Ettore Sottsass collectibles. We can only imagine what she’ll do with this place.
