The best cover songs are the ones that keep the best parts of the original, pay homage to the singer who made the song famous, but still sound totally unique — with a clever, new arrangement.
For example, there was this brilliant cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On” by The Voice judges Miley Cyrus, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Alicia Keys; there was also this jaw-dropping video of Pentatonix covering Justin Bieber’s “Where Are U Now.”
The cover video below is every bit as chill-worthy as these, but it doesn’t feature a pop artist or award-winning group… it was arranged and performed by a sixth-grader!
Back in April of 2010, Greyson Chance took the stage at his school’s talent show. At first, it appeared to the crowd of students and teachers that Greyson would be showing off his piano-playing s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s, but then Greyson began to sing, and his cover of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” had jaws dropping!
Because Greyson’s arrangement is so clever and original, it takes his classmates a moment to realize what he’s singing. But if you watch closely, you can see the faces of Greyson’s peers light up in the crowd as they recognized the hit single.
Wow, Greyson was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 to be a star!
Check out Greyson’s brilliant cover in the video below and share his amazing talent with a friend.
