The Golden State Warriors are a team that has shown interest in Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in the past. The Dubs’ supposed fascination with the eight-time All-Star reportedly came back to life after the Bucks suffered another early exit in the postseason.
The only way Giannis leaves Milwaukee is if he demands a trade. In this scenario, the Bucks would demand an extremely steep price from trade suitors. Do the Warriors have the cache to make a deal work?
Milwaukee Bucks Trade Giannis Antetokounmpo to Warriors in Bonkers Deal
According to Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World, the Warriors have enough assets to lure Giannis to the Bay Area. Below are the eye-popping details of what a blockbuster trade deal would look like between Golden State and the Bucks:
Bucks get: Jonathan Kuminga, Andrew Wiggins, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, Kevon Looney, Trayce Jackson-Davis, 2028 First-Round Pick
Warriors get: Giannis Antetokounmpo
That’s a whole lot of assets in exchange for one man. However, if you’re the Warriors, this might be a risk worth taking. Bitar seems to think so:
“While the departure of key players like Kuminga and Wiggins would undoubtedly sting, the opportunity to add a generational talent like Giannis could propel the Warriors back to the forefront of NBA contention. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks stand to benefit from this deal by acquiring a host of promising young players, along with future draft assets to facilitate their own roster development but could have enough talent to keep making the playoffs as currently constructed,” Bitar wrote.
There is a scenario wherein the Bucks still come out on top even if they lose their cornerstone superstar. This wild trade proposal could be one of those.
Losing Giannis will be an extremely tough blow, but the fact that they can secure their future with this deal makes it a very attractive one — all things considered, of course.
Andrew Wiggins is a former All-Star who could help make the Bucks remain relevant alongside Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton. Jonathan Kuminga, on the other hand, has the makings of a cornerstone stud for the not-so-distant future. Along with very promising talents in Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis, this deal allows the Bucks can secure their ability to compete in their post-Antetokounmpo era.
