From the months of June to August, Kylie Jenner—and most of the Kardashian-Jenners, come to think of it—ditch their designer garms and red carpet ball gowns in favor of almost exclusively swimwear. Ya know, when they’re not wearing the latest must-have trends, be it bubble skirts or white mini dresses.
Whether it’s plunging one-pieces, cut-out monokinis, or tiny string micro-bikinis, the famous family has an extensive beach wardrobe. So why would they bother wearing anything else?
Showcasing yet another ‘kini in her swimwear arsenal, Kylie took to Instagram to share a series of pics from a photoshoot as part of a social media campaign for her drinks brand, Sprinter. Accompanied in the snaps by her two BFFs Anastasia ‘Stassie’ Karanikolaou and Victoria Villarroel, all three can be seen wearing two-pieces in varying colors.
And while their tops are the classic and ever-favored triangle style, it was the trio’s bikini bottoms that caught our attention. Sound the fashion klaxon because Kylie just debuted a new swimwear trend, right in time for summer and bikini szn.
Featuring a two-tone double design, the bottoms look like they are two separate pairs that have been layered over each other, with the thin side straps worn at varying heights on the hip. Donning a custom-made creation from swimwear brand Oséree, Kylie reps a navy blue and gold ‘kini, while Stassie wears an orange and pink ‘fit and Victoria’s style features two shades of green.
“We love experimenting with new products all the time. We managed to create a custom-made fabric, starting with a simple tulle. We dyed the fabric to achieve the color we wanted and we added a touch that has always distinguished Oséree: a metallic lamina to always be glow and shiny,” brand founders Isabella Cavallin and Jannine Vinci explained to Cosmo.
“From there, we decided not to line the fabric with lycra as we would normally do, but to play with transparencies, thus combining two colors and consequently two bikinis!” The result is a fun and 𝓈ℯ𝓍y new bikini style, oozing ’80s fashion retro charm while being super contemporary.
Upon closer inspection, it appears the tops also feature double straps, though less obvious than the design detail on the bottoms. Yep, of course Kylie was ahead of the trend, yet again!
