Currently in production is a new Evil Dead spinoff film, which comes after the $147 million success of the film’s predecessor. The Evil Dead franchise, which found new life with Evil Dead Rise and Ash vs. Evil Dead, is set to grow even more with this exciting announcement. The franchise’s heritage presents a big obstacle for the proposed offshoot, though.Fans are even more excited about the newest Evil Dead spinoff because it is produced by Sam Raimi’s business.

However, in order to properly navigate its lore, the franchise must address a critical question, as TWO SPINOFFS are now under production. The new spinoff has a challenge since, despite the franchise’s reputation for lighthearted gore, it has a complicated backstory. One of the main narrative points revealed by Army of Darkness is that there are only three variations of the Necronomicon. One was already taken by Evil Dead Rise, so unless it comes up with a unique approach, there is no room for the next spinoff. One way to keep consistency would be for the spinoff to function as a follow-up to one of the current plots.

As an alternative, it might establish a new chronology, doing away with the requirement to make sense of the canon. Examining the 1920s, which is alluded to in Evil Dead Rise, is an additional choice that offers a novel background and new perspective for the story. Fans are excitedly awaiting the next installment in the Evil Dead trilogy, regardless of its direction.

Stay tuned for upcoming updates!

The Evil Dead Spinoff: Confirmation & Everything We Know

Custom Image By Dalton Norman

After the popularity of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, another Evil Dead spinoff is in the works and there are already a ton of exciting updates about the terrifying new project. Debuting in 1981 with the release of The Evil Dead, the legendary horror franchise follows various poor souls as they encounter the Necronomicon, the book of the dead which has the power to summon demon-like deadites that possess the bodies of the living. Though the original film was a gritty masterpiece of terror, the sequels became increasingly silly and deftly mixed black humor with horror.

The original trilogy followed Ash Williams, played by horror icon Bruce Campbell, and was very much carried by the B-movie actor’s charisma and wit. However, after the release of 1992’s Army of Darkness, the franchise went dormant until 2013’s eponymous remake, where the franchise’s continuity was somewhat rudderless. Then, Evil Dead Rise took the series in a new direction by telling a story set within the original universe without having to rely on legacy characters. Now, another Evil Dead spinoff is in the works that is aiming to catch lightning in a bottle once again.

The Director Gives An Update On The Script

With the movie still in its infancy, it may be that there are no story details to reveal, and it might take a while before the plot materializes.

Not long after a hopeful release window was revealed, the latest news sees the Evil Dead spinoff’s director give a cautious response when asked about the story. With story details firmly under wraps at this juncture, director Sébastien Vaniček had little to reveal about the spinoff, saying that the movie is in “the early process of the writing“. With the movie still in its infancy, it may be that there are no story details to reveal, and it might take a while before the plot materializes.

Read Vaniček’s full comments below:

we are in the early process of the writing, so we have so many questions. We just wrote stuff with my co-writer, it’s the same co-writer I wrote Infested with, so I’m working with my team, I’m really glad. But we are in the process of building our story, our characters and everything, and we are chatting with each other. There’s so many ideas coming from everywhere. For the moment, we are in the sandbox, and we haven’t started to build a castle, we are just gathering the best sand, and as soon as I have the best sand, I will start to build a castle.

The Success Of Evil Dead Rise Has Spawned Another Movie Custom Image By SR Image Editor

Less than a year after the smashing success of Evil Dead Rise, it has now been revealed that a new Evil Dead spinoff is in the works, though little is known about the film itself. Along with the reveal of the movie came the announcement that original franchise creator Sam Raimi would return alongside Robert Tapert to produce. Who Is Making The Evil Dead Spinoff?

Raimi And Tapert Return Custom Image by SR Image Editor

Like 2013’s remake and the 2023 blockbuster Evil Dead Rise, the new Evil Dead spinoff will be produced by the brilliant and twisted minds behind the franchise. Sam Raimi and long-time creative partner Robert Tapert will produce the new spinoff through their Ghost House Pictures company, but the celebrated director will not helm the project. Instead, directing duties have been handed off to Sébastien Vaniček who recently directed the indie horror film Vermin in 2023 which screened at the Venice Film Festival.

The Evil Dead Spinoff Story

No Story Details Have Been Revealed

The Evil Dead franchise has moved in a lot of directions over the decades, but there is nothing known about the story of the Evil Dead spinoff at this time. However, there are a few things that every film in the franchise includes, such as copious gore, lots of chills, and even a dismemberment or two. Since the new film is being billed as a spinoff, it likely won’t pick up after Evil Dead Rise and will probably weave another tale of terror.

Though he made a cameo in Evil Dead Rise, it is unlikely that Bruce Campbell will make a full-time return as Ash Williams, though the possibility of another cameo is always high. Evil Dead Rise was the first time, outside the tongue-in-cheek Ash vs Evil Dead, that fans got to see the deadites unleashed on the general public, and the next film will probably continue that trend. The Evil Dead spinoff could also take the series to new places, though it is difficult to speculate about where that might be.
