Marquette law student wins for the first time as a Black woman Milwaukee Miss

A student at Marquette University Law School has made history as the first Black woman to win the title of Miss Milwaukee.

Jada Monet Davis was chosen for the title on March 19 during the virtual online competition. Davis graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay with a degree in Democracy & Justice Studies and hopes to become an entertainment lawyer after finishing law school.

“Just to be able to have a part of history be a part of my life, and to do it during Women’s History Month, is super special,” Davis said.

This is only the second competition Davis has entered, but she plans to use her time with the title to act as a role model for others and strive for positivity. The competition for the state-wide Miss Wisconsin pageant begins on June 14, and if she wins, Davis will be the Black woman chosen for that title as well.

“To continue with my initiative and building the confidence of other young women in our city is something that I’m looking forward to,” Davis said.
