A24 has released the trailer for Isaiah Saxon’s “The Legend Of Ochi,” starring Helena Zengel, Finn Wolfhard, Emily Watson, and Willem Dafoe. The film will be released in theaters on February 28th, 2025.
Plot Synopsis: In a remote northern village, a young girl, Yuri, is raised to never go outside after dark and to fear the reclusive forest creatures known as the ochi. When a 𝑏𝑎𝑏𝑦 ochi is left behind by its pack, she embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to reunite it with its family.
What do you all think of the trailer? I was pretty impressed by this trailer (as I am with most A24 trailers). I loved seeing a practical puppet for the creature Helena Zengel’s character befriends, reminiscent of Grogu from “The Mandalorian.” The sweeping score, stunning landscapes, and a wildly eccentric Willem Dafoe have me fully on board for this adventure fantasy film. I’m also excited that this marks the directorial debut of Isaiah Saxon—based on the trailer, he seems like a fresh talent capable of working with a slim budget while still delivering a film that feels both grand and intimate. Traci Carlson and Richard Peete of Neighborhood Watch are also producers on the film. Could this be a Sundance Film Festival world premiere before its February release? It certainly feels like the kind of film that would. What do you all think? Please share your thoughts in the comments section below or on our X account.
