Patrick Mahomes attributes the Chiefs’ devastating touchdown run to “dad bod”

Patrick Mahomes claims that it’s the strength of the dad bod. In Kansas City’s victory over the 49ers on Sunday, the Chiefs quarterback sprinted for a score with great force. Mahomes then trucked safety Malik Mustapha at the goal line, knocking him to the ground.

Some fans who had been watching the game were clearly taken aback by the strong move, and Mahomes himself had a little fun discussing it on Thursday.

Pro Football Talk reports that Mahomes stated, “I really wasn’t trying to lower my shoulder.””My dad bod, man, I just had enough weight on me where he went down, and I was trying to absorb the hit because I knew I would be right there in the end zone.” I was attempting to absorb it and enter the end zone, not to actively seek contact, and it simply seemed to work out well for me.

Previously, including in an interview with Time in April, Mahomes made light of himself and his alleged dad bod.

He told the outlet that he does “definitely have the dad bod a little bit” while touting the benefits of having a little extra meat on the bone.

I should also mention that I have an excellent physique for a quarterback. To withstand the blows we endure, you need to have some cushioning in there,” he stated.

When “Inside the NFL” featured a segment with a shirtless Mahomes giving a victory speech in the Chiefs locker room in January, the dad bod joke gained popularity.

On social media, he made a joke with the hashtag “DadBodSZN,” asking, “Yoooo, why do they have to do me like that!?!?!?”

On Sunday in Las Vegas, the Chiefs, the only club in the NFL still unbeaten this season, take on the Raiders.
