Jason Kelce returned to Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday and debuted his new Christmas song ‘Santa Drives an Astrovan’ alongside the Philadelphia band Mt. Joy
Former Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce brought festive cheer to fans at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday as he took to the stage with local band Mt. Joy to unveil his new Christmas tune ‘Santa Drives an Astrovan’.
The Eagles were gearing up for the 26-18 win over the Washington Commanders, but before the game kicked off, Kelce grabbed the spotlight, shaking a banana-shaped maraca alongside bandmates Matt Quinn, Sam Cooper, Sotiris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau, and Michael Byrnes. In a moment of high spirits, Kelce launched a massive teddy bear into the audience during the performance.
Addressing the excited crowd, Kelce expressed his gratitude: “What’s up, everybody! Thank y’all for coming out,” he said. “This goes a long way to help me promote this album which is going to help a lot of families around this area around the holidays. So thank you so much for supporting.”
The retired NFL star is set to drop his latest Christmas album on Nov. 29, pledging proceeds from ‘A Philly Special Christmas Party’ to various Philadelphia charities. This new track follows Kelce’s collaboration with Stevie Nicks, the ex-Fleetwood Mac star on the single ‘Maybe This Christmas.’
“It was incredible to work with Stevie Nicks. I mean, obviously, I just am still in awe of the fact that that actually happened,” Kelce recently beamed on the ‘New Heights’ podcast. “This is really, really cool. I mean, there is no percent chance any song that I am in should be streaming No. 1 on any service, in any genre.”
Shooting to the top, Kelce’s festive tune knocked Mariah Carey’s iconic ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ off the iTunes Holiday Charts pedestal for a whole week, leaving the Philadelphia fans’ favourite feeling over the moon.

“You know, I’ve fought my whole life to be the Queen of Christmas, and the fact that we’re finally there, It’s just really special,” he continued. Yet, Kelce knows the reign might be short-lived as Carey is expected to make her seasonal return.
“I know we caught it in early November,” he stated. “We’ll see if it holds up throughout the rest of Christmas. We kind of caught it on the Christmas downslide. Not too many people are listening to Christmas music, so we jumped up in there.”
Despite this success, Kelce admitted his hesitation about performing his new holiday song on a Thursday night, worrying it would overshadow an important NFC East showdown.
“I don’t know if this is the right thing to do,” he confessed on ‘New Heights.’
“The Eagles are about to play the most important game of the year, they’re playing the Washington Commanders, and me and Mt. Joy are gonna go in there before the game kicks off and perform a Christmas song.”
