Tilly, a unique dog with a short spine, stands out from others, but that doesn’t hold her back from being extraordinary. She has brought immense joy and love to her human mom and has become a sensation on Instagram, earning her the title of one of the most popular dogs on the platform.
Anna Marie Giannini stumbled upon an internet advertisement that promised to showcase some charming puppies. However, amid the cute litter, there was one puppy that stood out from the rest, and it piqued her interest. This particular puppy was Tilly, a captivating Tibetan spaniel that caught Anna’s attention.
Anna had an instant connection with Tilly the moment her eyes met hers. The shelter informed Anna that one of the puppies was disabled and had no home. They were considering euthanizing her due to a lack of interested adopters. Despite the heartbreaking news, Anna fell in love with the little puppy immediately. She couldn’t bear the thought of Tilly being put down, so she decided to take her home. Tilly was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with a unique condition known as short spine syndrome, which gives her the appearance of a neckless dog with a very short back. Nonetheless, Anna knew deep down that Tilly was special, and she was determined to give her the life she deserved.
When Anna embraced Tilly, she was amazed that nobody was interested in adopting her. Anna recalled how tiny and round Tilly looked when she first saw her, fitting perfectly in the palm of her hand. During their journey home, Tilly rested on Anna’s lap and gazed at her with her large, brown eyes. It was then that Anna realized she needed Tilly as much as Tilly needed her. Anna made a pledge to herself to never let Tilly feel unwanted again.
As Tilly grew up, her truncated spinal cord was becoming more prominent, yet it never hindered her from leading a normal life like any other furry creature. Anna stated that although Tilly was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 with a genetic disorder, just like humans with special needs, her body has learned how to adjust to it. Fortunately, she has no medical issues or challenges related to her condition, and the family is hopeful that Tilly will live a healthy and long life.
Tilly requires assistance to climb up and down furniture but she uses a specialized ladder for this purpose. Anna devotes her entire day to provide Tilly with a relaxing massage. Tilly expresses gratefulness towards Anna for her help and care, and leads a contented life full of love in her cozy abode. Anna recounts how Tilly showers her with spontaneous kisses every hour, akin to a clock that requires human touch to function. Although Tilly’s petite size sets her apart, other animals are intrigued by her presence, but Tilly is undeterred and willingly plays with other puppies of any size.
Anna expressed her gratitude for all the things she learned from Tilly and promised not to make any changes. She shared that Tilly is her constant companion who sleeps beside her with her head on the pillow and paws under the covers. Tilly always stays close to Anna, touching her and standing between her legs while she cooks. Even when Anna does her homework, Tilly lies beside her with her feet on top of her. Tilly’s presence in Anna’s life is a reminder to be thankful for each new day. Anna considers herself fortunate to have Tilly and is happy that she can reciprocate by giving Tilly a joyful life.
