Chelsea’s New Squad Numbers Have Been Confirmed – And There Are Some Interesting Changes

The full list of Chelsea shirt numbers for the 2023-24 season has been confirmed.

Along with a host of new signings, several existing first-team players have changed things up amid the shake-up in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Enzo Fernandez has moved up to No8, the jersey he wore while winning the 2022 World Cup, while Raheem Sterling has switched to No7. They wore the No5 and No17 shirts last year, respectively.

Mykhailo Mudryk has vacated the No15 shirt for Nicolas Jackson, as the Ukrainian winger takes No10. Meanwhile, £52million striker Christopher Nkunku has taken the No18 that he wore for RB Leipzig.

Chelsea’s most-recent addition, Axel Disasi, has slotted in at No2 with Robert Sanchez at No31 and Lesley Ugochukwu the No16.

Pochettino is expected to hand Malo Gusto and Andrey Santos prominent roles in the new campaign and they have been awarded the No27 and No20 shirts, respectively.

The spate of squad number movers includes Marc Cucurella, now No3; Benoit Badiashile, No5; Noni Madueke, No11; Carney Chukwuemeka, No17; and Armando Broja, No19. Levi Colwill steps into the first-team squad at No26.

The No4, No9 and No12 squad numbers all remain vacant amid Chelsea’s hunt for a new striker. Romelu Lukaku has not been given a number amid talk of a Juventus swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic.
