Harry Maguire faces the risk of not being able to leave Man United, receiving bad news from Erik Ten Hag

Harry Maguire’s transfer to West Ham is on hold due to personal issues.

As a result, the Hammers are hastily planning a £30 million bid for Odilon Kossounou of Bayer Leverkusen.

The £30 million deal of Harry Maguire to West Ham might not be as straightforward.

Manchester United has agreed to a £30 million offer for England star Harry Maguire, but they will have to contribute to his salary.

The main option is Ivorian Kossounou, 22, whom West Ham’s sporting director Tim Steidten is familiar with from his time at the German club.

Leverkusen might even be amenable to a loan agreement with a subsequent guaranteed buy.

When United play Wolves on Monday night in their Premier League debut, Maguire could play.

Maguire, 30, was benched by manager Erik ten Hag after receiving just eight Premier League starts the season prior.

It was announced earlier this summer that Bruno Fernandes had replaced the England defender as captain at Old Trafford after Ten Hag had demoted him.

Although an agreement has been struck between Man United and West Ham, Maguire must now choose whether to accept the deal.

In order to improve the caliber of their defense, The Hammers have made the former Leicester City player one of their primary targets. The negotiations are, however, reportedly at a standstill since the two parties cannot agree on personal terms, according to a source for journalist Alan Nixon.

When asked if his former captain is available for the game on Monday night, Ten Hag responded, “Of course.”

At Manchester United, Maguire has lost ground to Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, and occasionally even Luke Shaw.

He could have stayed and continued to present his argument, though.

However, with Euro 2024 coming up the following summer, Maguire might feel that playing frequently for the first squad is necessary if he wants to maintain his standing with the Three Lions. Maguire’s United deal, which pays him £190,000 weekly, has two more years left.
