Growing up under the protection of his mother and coaches in his hometown of Akron, LeBron James never admitted that his father had abandoned him and his 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.
At least three people have come forward to recognize LeBron James as a son, after he became the most popular NBA star a decade ago. The first is the family of Roland Bivins – a former basketball player. This man was 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed when James was eight years old and was unaware of his existence.
But when LeBron started creating a fever in the NBA in 2003, Bivins’ family immediately confirmed that James had the same bloodline as them. Claiming that this was a hoax to seek fame, LeBron never accepted a DNA test to see if he was Bivins’ son. The incident was also quickly forgotten.
Many people voiced their claim to be the father of LeBron James during the past decade. But Anthony McClelland is the name confirmed by James’ mother herself. Photo: ESPN .
The second is Bryce Stovell, an attorney in Washington. In 2010, he claimed to have slept with Gloria, James’ mother, for about a year before the top NBA superstar was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧. Bryce even provided genetic data to prove he wasn’t lying. However, the results of James’ DNA samples showed that Bryce’s story was completely fabricated.
Finally, and most precisely, Anthony McClelland is the real father of LeBron. No need to speak up, no need for genetic testing, McClelland was acknowledged by Mrs. Gloria James herself. The American media, then, did a lot of investigative reports about McClelland’s background. The collected data shows that this man is almost certainly James’ biological father.

Gloria James claims Anthony McClelland was her only 𝓈ℯ𝓍ual partner in the years before LeBron was 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧. There is no love between them, but come together to satisfy carnal pleasures. “I couldn’t fall in love with a big gangster like Anthony. But he was attractive in it. Anthony’s muscular body and carefree personality made me agree to bed,” Gloria shared. in an interview with Time in 2010, when Bryce Stovell claimed to be the father of LeBron.
Anthony McClelland is exactly what Gloria describes. Tall build, face similar to LeBron James and an arrogant personality. Despite living at the bottom of society, McClelland has never been in the press seeking fame for being the father of LeBron James. The images that the US press publishes about him are mainly pictures taken in prison stored at the local police station.
According to Gloria, when she announced her pregnancy, McClelland made it clear that she was not interested in fatherhood. The gangster of the Akron railway district later goes to prison for theft. A few years later, when he was released from prison, McClelland was involved in drug dealings and murders in nightclubs. His number of incarcerations was, therefore, innumerable during LeBron James’ early years.
“He wasn’t the boy’s father in the usual way. As LeBron told me, he was just a ‘biological father.’ He didn’t notice LeBron’s existence, because he was still absorbed in life. We haven’t seen each other since I gave 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡 to LeBron. I never intended to see him again and never will,” Gloria confirmed.

At Christmas 2014, LeBron James wrote on Twitter to thank McClelland for abandoning his mother and son. “I thank him for not seeing me. Thanks to being abandoned by him, I am where I am today. He helped me go from $10 in my pocket to $100 million in my account. I have no excuses. to meet him, and vice versa,” LeBron declared like a nail.
Nearly a decade ago, ESPN first published information about McClelland, with suspicions that the man with multiple criminal records was LeBron James’ father. The article said that McClelland once intended to come and identify the famous son, but before he could do so, he was arrested and imprisoned. However, no one has yet verified this information. At the time, the NBA’s best player simply told ESPN : “I’ll keep some things far, far away from me.”
Currently, Anthony McClelland has completely disappeared and is no longer the target of investigation by NBA reporters in the US. Somewhere, he may still be watching LeBron play every week, winning prestigious prizes and making huge sums of money. McClelland, at some point, probably regretted abandoning James and his son. But after all, if he didn’t do that, the basketball world might not have a legend named LeBron James.
