Anne Hathaway is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. At 40 years old, the Oscar-winning actress has maintained her natural beauty, making people question if she has looked for help achieving it. The actress has spoken about how she would not go under the knife, fearing it would negatively impact her career.

When asked if she had undergone rhinoplasty, the Brokeback Mountain star explained, “I wanted a nose job, but now, my nose is what lets me change my face a lot – and I can be glamorous as Agent 99 (in Get Smart), then look rough as a drug addict for (director) Jonathan Demme (in Rachel Getting Married).”

“Your face needs to have character if you’re an actor – otherwise you’re just a face,” Anne explained, praising her looks for helping her get into characters on-screen.

Although she is renowned for her beauty, which has landed her multiple beauty contracts, she admits “I think I’ve got really weird features. I have very large features on a very small head. But, you know, I’m not going to beat myself up. It’s my face. I’m not very pretty.”

Despite lacking confidence in her looks Anne Hathaway is at peace. “But that’s OK because I do know that I look like myself, and I think at the end of the day, as nice as pretty is, authenticity is more important.”

Did Anne Hathaway Get A Nose Job?

The Devil Wears Prada actress admits she used to want a nose job to make her look more like other girls in the movie industry. “Growing up, there’s a lot of pressure on young women, when you first become aware of your own looks in relation to other women’s looks,” she explained.

“You just want to be cookie-cutter beautiful. And sometimes you think, ‘Maybe I could change something about myself to fit that mould’. I’m no exception to that.” The actress praises her facial features for helping her play a versatile range of characters on-screen.

“I just made a movie where I play a recovering drug addict and I look really rough,” she explained in a 2008 interview. “Your face needs to have character if you’re going to be an actor, or you’re just kind of a face. You’re not really a person or a personality.”

She had admitted that she doesn’t think she would ever change her features with surgery. “If there’s anything in my power to change myself, I’ll do it but in terms of radically changing myself for self-esteem or anything, no, I don’t think I’ll ever do that.”

How Anne Hathaway Keeps Her Youthful Appearance

Anne Hathaway’s face was also the subject of fan questions when she shared a selfie on Instagram, showcasing her youthful complexion. It does appear The Dark Knight Rises star is getting younger, looking more youthful than ever.

The actress didn’t address the questions about Botox and buccal fat removal. Her facialist, Su-Man, shared The Princess Diaries star’s secrets with Net-a-Porter in September 2022, explaining, “Anne is incredibly disciplined when it comes to her skin.” He told the outlet that the star uses facial massages and plenty of SPF 30 to protect her face from UV rays and keep her youthful appearance.

She has previously spoken about her love of SPF. Her mother taught her to wear “factor 30 sun cream” daily. “I even carry an umbrella if I walk in the sunshine and use spray tan if I need to look as if I’ve been sunbathing,” she previously explained.

How Acting Boosted Anne Hathaway’s Self Confidence

In a 2017 interview for Popcorn with Peter Travers, Anne Hathaway reveals the road to loving herself was a rocky one. She credited her family with helping her achieve this inner happiness. Hathaway married Adam Schulman in 2012, the couple have two sons together.

“I disliked myself so intensely,” she explained. “It was just a mindset. I didn’t know how to love myself. I didn’t know how to love anybody.”

The Les Misérables star admitted that she lived with a “pungent unhappiness” for years and worried she’d never find peace. “It just seemed like [happiness] could never happen to me. I had just too many issues.”

She escaped her personal issues by diving into the characters she was playing. She admitted that at the start of her career she loved acting because it helped her ignore the big issues.”Of course, I loved [acting back then] because it meant that I got to leave this moment and be someone else,” she says. “Of course, that came easily when the thing that felt impossible at the time was actually being present.”

For a cover interview with ELLE, Hathaway also briefly explained her self-love journey, saying, “I do my best to not be afraid of what others might say and just focus on enjoying my life.” Hathaway was met with a string of internet hate during the promotional tour of Les Misérables.

“When your self-inflicted pain is suddenly somehow amplified back at you at, say, the full volume of the internet… It’s a thing,” she said during a 2022 Woman in Hollywood speech.“When what happened, happened, I realized I had no desire to have anything to do with this line of energy. On any level. I would no longer create art from this place. I would no longer hold space for it, live in fear of it, nor speak its language for any reason.”

“To anyone. Including myself… Hate seems to me to be the opposite of life; in soil that harsh, nothing can grow properly, if at all.”
