You can buy Michael Jordan’s 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser for the cost of his jersey number

Usually it’s sneakers worn by NBA star Michael Jordan that pop up for sale – but now it’s the 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser he used to drive around in.

A coveted piece of sports memorabilia is up for grabs.

No, it’s not another pair of sneakers worn by Michael Jordan.

This time it’s a 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Lorinser the basketball player drove during his heyday – and it could be yours for just $23.

That’s not a typo – it genuinely has an asking price of just $23.

The car is set to be sold by livestream shopping platform Whatnot.

If you want to see it in person, it’s being displayed at The National Sports Collectors Convention, which runs from today (July 26) until Sunday July 30.

A press release says that anyone interested in buying the car can enter its Whatnot Drop through the company’s smartphone app on the first day of the event.

The winner will be chosen and can then complete the transaction for $23.

So, what exactly do you get for $23? A lot to put it bluntly.

Jordan bought the Mercedes W140 S-Klasse coupe with his then-wife Juanita in late 1995 and held onto it until 2003.

You may even recognize the car, as it appeared in episode seven of The Last Dance.

Finished in metallic dark blue, it features custom exterior work, including a wide-body kit and chrome monobloc wheels by Lorinser.

Step inside, and there’s a car phone that displays Jordan’s name across the dashboard every time it’s turned on.

Under the hood, there’s plenty of power (394 horsepower) courtesy of a 6.0-liter V12.

No doubt you’re wondering why a car once owned by NBA star Michael Jordan is selling for so little money.

In fact, the car’s one of several pieces of sports memorabilia selling for $23 at this year’s convention.

It’s because 23 is the NBA Hall of Famer’s most famous jersey number.

Apparently, the coupe was up for sale for the best part of three years via the Beverly Hills Car Club and never sold.

WhatNot shouldn’t have any issue parting ways with the car for $23, though.
