The Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron opened up about his money situation – or lack thereof – when he was dating supermodel Gigi Hadid.

The 30-year-old reality star was first linked with the 27-year-old supermodel in early August 2019, shortly after his stint on The Bachelorette ended, though they broke up in October 2019.

Cameron appeared on fellow Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tatrick’s podcast Trading Secrets, where he revealed how he only had $200 to his name when he started dating Hadid.

Tatrick, 34, recalled a conversation he had with Cameron when he first started dating Hadid.

‘He goes to me, “Dude, I don’t know what the f**k I’m doing. I got $5,000 in my bank account, I don’t know what my next job is, and I’m dating Gigi Hadid,”‘ Tatrick recalled, though Cameron corrected him.

‘Not even $5,000, I had like $200, you know what I mean? I’d be going on dates — like this is in my early days of living in New York City. I’m living on Matt’s beanbag,’ he said, referring to fellow Bachelor Nation alum Matt James.

‘Have no money, but I’m like the happiest I’ve ever been ’cause like the world is wide open to me in New York City. I can do whatever I want,’ he added.

He even admitted that he would call up his father in the bathroom, mid-date, and ask for some money to pay for the date.

‘I’d be going on dates, I’m like calling pops up in the bathroom. I’m like, “Pops, I don’t think my credit card’s gonna go through. I need you to send me some money right now.’ And he’s like, “You got it, son, go get it,”‘ Cameron explains.

He added his dad would send money to cover dinner at times but there were, ‘some touch and go moments’ where he would hope his card would go through.

‘When you go on a date with Gigi, and you only have $200 to your name, how do you pay for it? Do you ever have a story, like how are you managing that?’ Tatrick asked/

‘You’re just crossing your fingers at this point. At this point, I don’t even know what a credit card is. I got a straight debit card so when you hit zero, you hit zero, you know, so I’m just crossing my fingers, hoping it swipes, and it just kept swiping,’ Cameron said.

He added he would call his parents the next day to get a ‘couple hundred’ from them to tide him over.,

After he dated Hadid, Cameron was linked to Camila Kendra from January 2021 to August 2021 and model Paige Lorenze for a month or so in the summer of 2022.

He was spotted with Kristin Cavallari at a New Year’s Eve bash though Cavallari clarified later they are just friends.

While Cameron spoke about how he used to crash on Matt James’ beanbag when he first got to New York City, Cameron admitted last summer they aren’t that close anymore, largely due to his relationship with Rachel Kirkconnell.

‘I think people think [Matt and I aren’t friends] because we’re just not in each other’s everyday lives like we used to be,’ Cameron told US Weekly.

‘I think it’s part of growing up. It’s part of entering a relationship,’ Cameron added.

‘We all have those friends that they grow up, they start dating their person, they get married, they do their thing and you see him when you see him,’ he said.

Cameron admitted in May he has a ‘love-hate relationship’ with Rachel, which he would clarify to an extent.

‘I was definitely going through my own s**t. We just have our own ways of clashing. I don’t like listening to people sometimes,’ he said.

‘And she’s strong and she has a really good opinion on a lot of things. And sometimes I don’t want to hear it,’ he admitted.
