Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is confident that his team-mate Levi Colwill is going to be great for both club and country in the future.
Conor Gallagher and Levi Colwill have been included in England’s squad for games against Australia and Italy, and Football Daily recently shared an interview of the former praising the latter.
Colwill has impressed at Chelsea following his return from his loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old, a central defender by trade, has slotted in at left-back this term and has made that spot his own under Mauricio Pochettino.
Conor Gallagher rates Levi Colwill massively
Gallagher could not help but wax lyrical about Colwill when discussing his team-mate while on international duty with England.
On his Chelsea colleague, the midfielder said: “I rate him massively. He’s a great talent. He’s still so young, a lot of potential, and he’s been great for Chelsea so far. And I’m sure in the future he’ll be great for Chelsea and England.”
Will Levi Colwill finally make his England debut?
There is a chance. He was, of course, included in England’s last squad but failed to earn his first senior cap.
However, with Ben Chilwell and Luke Shaw both out injured, perhaps Gareth Southgate will give him an opportunity at left-back since he has been playing there this season.
It would be disappointing if Colwill returned to Chelsea without playing a single minute, especially considering that one of the Three Lions’ games is against Australia in a friendly.
However, as Gallagher highlighted, the defender is still so young. Time is on his side in his bid to become a full England international.
There is another international break in November, so that could represent another opportunity for Colwill to win his first England cap if he does not get it on Friday or next Tuesday.
