Michael Jordan’s ultra-exclusive golf course cost 8 figures to build and has less than 100 members

As a member of the NBA’s Hall of Fame, Michael Jordan is no stranger to exclusive clubs. In 2019, the Chicago Bulls icon opened another: Grove XIII golf club.

When Michael Jordan’s not striking business deals building his fortune, he retreats to his sanctuary.

No, not his $80 million superyacht – but his own personal haven of sporting bliss.

The Grove XIII – a nod to his signature No. 23 jersey – is Jordan’s very own golf paradise.

Back in the 1990s, when Michael Jordan was staking his claim as the greatest player the NBA has ever seen, the Bulls icon was a regular on the golf course.

These days, though, he hosts.

But Jordan still loves to golf, and his course has earned quite the nickname: “Slaughterhouse 23”.

It earned the name since it was designed by Jordan, for Jordan, aimed at maximizing Jordan’s style of play against his opponents, especially when playing for money against pro golfers.

And it was at Grove XIII where Michael Jordan took delivery of a $3.5 million hypercar for his collection.

Tucked away on the outskirts of Hobe Sound, Florida, Jordan’s ultra-exclusive golf course offers a whole range of delights for golfing casuals, enthusiasts, and pros alike.

Not just anybody can waltz in for tee time, though.

Back in May 2020, Masters + PGA + Open champion Phil Mickelson revealed that even someone of his profile was forced to join the waitlist.

The total club member headcount? Based on the last reports, it has less than 100 invitation-only members, which is crazy to think when it cost $15 to $20 million to build.

Drawing inspiration from Shinnecock Hills, the state-of-the-art 18-hole golf course itself was designed by internationally celebrated specialist architect Bobby Weed.

It features a double-helix route which effectively means the course can be played in four nine + nine combinations or shorter three-to-six-hole loops.

This 15,000-square food structure consists of both men’s and women’s locker rooms, an indoor and outdoor lounge area, kitchen and dining spots, as well as a pro shop.

Golf car storage and back-of-house space can also be found below ground.

There’s even a gatehouse, practice range, and learning facility on site, not to mention drones dedicated to delivering beers and snacks to golfers on the course.

It’s safe to say, Grove XIII is a slam dunk, hole-in-one, and whatever other sports metaphor of your choosing combined.
