Haaland just scored a double in the match between Manchester City and Young Boys, thereby breaking the scoring record of French star Kylian Mbappe.
After scoring in Manchester City’s victory over Young Boys this morning, Erling Haaland became the youngest player in the Champions League to reach 37 goals in 33 matches, thereby breaking the record set by Kylian Mbappe.
The Manchester City striker has had a more difficult season after winning a historic treble with Pep Guardiola’s team at the end of last season. But against opponent Young Boys, the Norwegian international had a perfect performance to score again after 5 failed matches in the Champions League.
Man City won the clash in Switzerland with a score of 3-1, Haaland’s two goals and Akanji’s strike helped the away team maintain top position in Group G.
At the age of 23 years and 96 days, Haaland took away the honor of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe who scored 37 goals at the age of 23 years and 295 days. This record is just the latest record that Haaland has broken in a high-level European tournament.

Last season, the striker became the youngest player to reach 30 goals in the Champions League, once again surpassing Mbappe. Haaland only needed 25 appearances in the tournament to achieve this achievement, after Man City beat RB Leipzig 7-0 at the Etihad.
Haaland also became the third player in Champions League history to score 5 goals in a Champions League match. Besides the Norwegian striker, there is also Lionel Messi, who scored many goals for Barcelona, and former Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano.
Entering the 2023/24 Champions League, Haaland is having a rather modest start, scoring his first two goals early this morning and having a single assist against Red Star Belgrade. After this sublime match, Haaland will have to focus all his energy on the clash with Man United in round 10 of the Premier League.
