Angels Rumors: Shohei Ohtani Has Reported Interest in Joining NL Team And it’s Not The Dodgers

This would make things very interesting…

The free agency of two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani is unlike anything we have ever seen before in baseball history. It is being as closely watched as any player in sports, and nobody really knows what direction it will all take.

MLB insider Jon Morosi joined MLB Network to discuss the free agency of Ohtani, and he provided one National League team that the two-way superstar would be interested in joining.

“I had someone tell me that Shohei would be very intrigued by playing for the Atlanta Braves. I don’t expect the Braves to sign him because their priority is upgrading the pitching staff for 2024, but that gives you an idea of where his thought process is.”

While it’s unlikely that Ohtani would go to the Braves, it’s still interesting that he has looked at them as a potential team. Atlanta has been one of the better teams in baseball over the last few years, so it’s not surprising that he would want to join them. But it’s the location of where they play that makes this report intriguing.

It has been reported that geography isn’t a concern for him any longer, and it seems that it may really be the case. If he is looking at other places than just the West Coast, an entire extra line of suitors could open up to land his services.

Teams like the Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers have dominated the league for years, and it’s why they are attractive destinations for Ohtani. LA likely remains the favorite for him this offseason, but things could get very interesting the rest of the way.

Ohtani has made it clear that he just wants to win and win consistently. It’s something that the Angels haven’t been able to do for him over the years and is the main reason why he could end up leaving the franchise this offseason.
