According to Tarleton news, when Oweh resumed the university, he found the challenging academics and innovative research at the university’s Mayfield College of Engineering to be exciting.

He said courses in the field further fueled his passion for artificial intelligence. While at the university, Oweh has researched algorithms for machine learning models in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering.

He also researched how diseases spread on networks and used math to understand them. He also used computer models at Tarleton’s Texas Institute for Applied Environmental Research to help with environmental and farming improvements.

Oweh’s achievement is the first of its kind for Tarleton University. The dean of the Mayfield College of Engineering, Dr. Rafael Landaeta said his achievement is a big accomplishment for Oweh and the university.

“This is a big accomplishment for Teddy and affirms Tarleton’s engineering programs as among the best in the nation. Our faculty and student researchers are breaking boundaries and achieving breakthroughs. Teddy is at the forefront,” Dr. Rafeal said.

At Apple, Oweh will work with the Wireless Technologies and Ecosystem team analyzing data from Apple devices to improve embedded artificial intelligence and machine learning systems. He will gain practical work experience and work together with some of the most talented innovators in the world.

“I’m honestly very excited. I’ve been preparing for this a good portion of my life, and I can’t wait to contribute to a dynamic company like Apple,’ he said.

Oweh mentioned that after completing his university degree, he plans to further his research on generative adversarial networks by pursuing his postgraduate studies in the field.
