The Chiefs quarterback has had a rollercoaster year with highs and lows
KANSAS City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has had plenty to celebrate in 2023 – even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.
The Chiefs star has faced one of his toughest NFL seasons to date.

His team has battled inconsistency this campaign and face going on the road in the playoffs if they want to make it back to the Super Bowl.
The AFC Championship Game has almost become the “Arrowhead Invitational” with the last five all played at the Chiefs’ stadium.
But the No. 1 seeding in the AFC will likely elude the Chiefs this year, meaning some playoff road days in January.
The current Chiefs team feels a long way from the one Mahomes led to Super Bowl glory at the start of the year.
The quarterback won his second title in four years with a thrilling 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mahomes threw three touchdowns and was named Super Bowl MVP at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
He then showed off his 11-week-old son Bronze to the world for the first time during the celebrations.
The Chiefs quarterback took the customary trip to Disneyland after winning the Super Bowl with his wife Brittany and their two kids.
Chiefs Kingdom showed up in force for the title parade downtown with Mahomes wearing a WWE championship belt.
The couple suffered an almighty scare this summer when they had to rush Bronze to the emergency room.
They found that he was highly allergic to peanuts and Brittany described the episode as “the scariest 30 minutes of my life.”
Mahomes also starred in a Netflix special show this summer, which gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at his life.
The show titled Quarterback followed Mahomes as well as Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota through the 2022 NFL season.
The documentary series showed off the Mahomes’ new palace in a Kansas City suburb.
Mahomes purchased land for his dream home to be built and moved in this year from his previous $2.9m mansion.
The stunning new home comes complete with an outdoor pool, fire pit, and swim-up bar.
Also outside is a private golf hole and a football field for the quarterback to practice.
And on the inside, there is a fish tank center piece in the main reception as well as a private movie theater.
Mahomes explained: “I signed a 10-year contract extension because I wanted to be here in Kansas City and in this organization.
“So when I did that I thought I might as well build the exact house that I want.
“I’m here to be in Kansas City for the long term. I’m part of Chiefs Kingdom and this house embodies that.”
The 2023 season has been far from perfect for the Chiefs.
They have battled the lofty expectations they set for themselves, having reached three Super Bowls in four years.
And there has been extra attention on Kansas City this year thanks to Travis Kelce’s romance with Taylor Swift.
Mahomes was also fined $50,000 for publicly criticizing referees in a loss to the Buffalo Bills earlier this month.
Kansas City will still be one of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl in a wide-open AFC in January.
And Mahomes still has a chance to begin 2024 the same way this calendar year began – by celebrating with confetti falling on him and trying on a new Super Bowl ring.
