This summer, Blue Ivy Carter grabbed the world by storm when she joined her famous mother Beyoncé on her record-brea king Renaissance World Tour.
The “99 Problems” rapper stated during a sit-down with Gayle King of CBS Mornings that he gets shivers every night when his 11-year-old daughter dances on stage and that she gives her all to her profession. “When she expressed interest in doing it the first night, we told her that she couldn’t just walk outside and do it. Jay remarked, “You have to go work with the dancers.” “And she worked every day.”
During the May 26 show in Paris, Blue Ivy made her Renaissance tour debut. She soon established herself as a mainstay of the tour, dancing with her mother during the “My Power” and “Black Parade” medley from Beyoncé’s Lion King companion album The Gift. Carter’s younger self is also heard on the album’s track “Brown Skin Girl,” which she co-won in 2021, making her the second-youngest artist to win a Grammy.
Jay-Z described his daughter’s tour as a turning point in her life. “[Blue Ivy’s] been 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐧 into a life she didn’t ask for,” he stated. “Since her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡, she has been under constant observation and public criticism, with everyone judging her hairstyle as a young 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. You couldn’t create a finer script for her to take that stage and regain her authority, especially since the song is titled “My Power.”

This is not the first time Blue Ivy and her parents have worked together on a tour. On the bonus track “Blue’s Freestyle/We Family,” from Jay-Z’s 2017 album 4:44, she made a memorable appearance at the age of five. Spitting the lyrics, she said, “Everything everything this my only single thing/Everything I have is my asset/And it’s in how I say, then innocent if I say/I never hear that, I just ended how I say/Never seen a ceiling in my whole life.”
Rumi and Sir, twins aged six, are also in the care of Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
