Unless the Golden State Warriors make a major upgrade to their roster in the months leading up to the new season, it’s hard to see this Stephen Curry-led group compete for a championship this year.
Last season, with both Klay Thompson and Chris Paul still in their lineup, the Warriors failed to even make it to the playoffs. According to Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, he expects the same fate for Golden State in 2024-25.
Golden State Warriors: Charles Barkley’s Blunt Assessment
Barkley didn’t exactly say that Curry and Co. will miss the postseason for a second-year running. The former NBA MVP, however, is adamant that the Dubs’ dynasty run has officially come to an end:
“They were mediocre last year. They’re going to be even more mediocre next year… That run is over,” Barkley said.
Barkley is never one to mince words and he’s come out with a brutally blunt assessment of Golden State’s chances this coming season.
This could easily change if the Warriors are somehow able to shake up their roster significantly, but until then, they’re going to be a “mediocre” bunch — at least according to Sir Charles.
The Warriors will forever be heralded as one of the greatest teams in NBA history after they bagged four championships in the span of eight years. Nobody can ever take that feat away from them.
For Barkley, though, the former superstar turned NBA analyst firmly believes that Golden State won’t be winning another championship — at least not in the Steph Curry era.
