Shortly after trying to take off from Sundance Airport in Oklahoma City, the small single-engine airplane went down before it could leave and 𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁ed everyone on board.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department stated that the plane was in the process of taking off from Sundance Airport when the crash occurred.

However, the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The Federal Aviation Administration said that the crash happened around 1:30 pm local time.

“A single-engine Beechcraft BE33 crashed while departing from Sundance Airport in Oklahoma City,” the FAA said.

The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are both investigating the crash, but The NTSB is in charge of the investigation.

“Initial reports stated that the plane was actively trying to take off,” Capt. Scott Douglas with the Oklahoma City Fire Department told local ABC affiliate KOCO-TV.

“We don’t have any information on the family right now,” Douglas continued.

“We just know that there were four souls on board,” he said.

“I don’t have ages, names, or anything right now.”

Footage from local CBS affiliate KWTV-DT shows first responders on the scene fighting the blaze from the crash.

“It was a lot of fires that were active, firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.”

At least two fire trucks were at the site trying to get the flames under control according to the footage.

“It looked like the plane had crashed into trees,” Douglas told local NBC affiliate KFOR-TV.

“It was kind of in a wooded area,” Douglas said.

One resident who lives near the Airport told KOCO-TV that his son heard helicopters speeding by.

The pair then went outside, where he described smelling smoke.

“NTSB investigators are expected to be on scene tomorrow to begin documenting the scene, examining the aircraft,” the board said in a statement.

“The aircraft will then be recovered and taken to a secure facility for further evaluation.”

The board says their investigation will mainly look at three variables in their determination, the pilot, the aircraft, and the operating environment.
