On Saturday, Emma Stone attended a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival for her new film Kinds of Kindness with director Yorgos Lanthimos and co-stars Jesse Plemons, Margaret Qualley, Joe Alwyn, and Willem Dafoe. The star wore a white Louis Vuitton minidress with a skirt that ended halfway down her thighs. The dress featured a plunging neckline with structured lapels and three-quarter sleeves and was cinched at the waist with an overly long men’s dress belt looped stylishly to one side.

She accessorized with strappy black heels and a pair of round sunglasses in brown. Stone had her hair back in a long straight ponytail and wore diamond studs in her ears. She was wearing a coral pink lip.

This is the second Louis Vuitton look Stone has worn to Cannes this weekend. On Friday, she wore a long sleeveless gown on the red carpet made of a rich plum fabric that ruched in several tiers around her feet, ending in a short train. The gown also featured a plunging neckline and she wore it with her hair down in waves and a large chunky gold bracelet.

During the press conference, a reporter from Kazakhstan’s 98 Magazine reportedly addressed Stone as “Emily,” which is actually her given name—she chose “Emma” when the name “Emily Stone” was already chosen in her union, SAG-AFTRA. Lanthimos jumped in to correct the journalist only to have Stone explain the situation.
“My name is Emily, thank you,” she said, laughing. “Very nice.”
In the past, the Poor Things star has said she chose “Emma” for its similarity to her real name, to honor her favorite Spice Girls band member, Emma Bunton, and because she’d identified with it previously.
“Growing up, I was super blonde, and my real name is Emily, but I wanted to be called Emma because of Baby Spice and guess what? Now I am,” Stone explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in an interview in 2018. “It wasn’t necessarily because of her but yes, in second grade, did I go up to the teacher on the first day and ask her to call me Emma? Yes, I did, and was it because of Emma Lee Bunton from the Spice Girls? Yes, it was.”
