Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter filed to drop her father’s surname on her 18th 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day.
Brad Pitt’s daughter Shiloh Jolie filed a petition to drop her surname Pitt on her 18th 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day. The notice also stated that anyone who opposes the petition will have to go to court. The 18-year-old’s lawyer told the media that Shiloh wanted to drop her father’s surname because of traumatic events in her past.
Shiloh now only keeps her mother’s surname and goes by her full name, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
According to TMZ, court documents show that the petition was approved on Monday (August 19).
Last month, Shiloh took out a newspaper ad marking the name change, which was a preparatory step before the court approved the name change.
A source close to the matter said, “Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angelina Jolie didn’t know and couldn’t speak up.”
The fact that Shiloh paid for it herself suggests that the heated argument between Pitt and Jolie could still take legal form from their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.
The couple’s long-running custody battle ultimately ended in a victory for Pitt, who won 50-50 custody in 2021 but was later overturned on appeal.
Brad Pitt asked a judge to intervene and tell Angelina that she could not wiretap his cell phone calls with the kids.
The actor tried to build a skate park at his home for Shiloh, and more recently, an art studio to showcase their shared interest in art. In order to fulfill his fatherly duties, Pitt had cars and security guards pick up the kids from Jolie’s home to his home during all visits. Sadly, this did not improve the relationship.
In fact, son Pax said in an Instagram post in 2016 that all four of the youngest 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, including Shiloh, “feel scared around their dad.” The two older ones refused to see Pitt at the time.
Maddox, now 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Knox and Vivienne, 16, have chosen to live with their mother, Angelina Jolie.
In an FBI report released in 2022, Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her while flying to California in 2016. She claimed that he was drunk and grabbed her by the head, shook her, and then pushed her to the ground. Part of the confrontation was reportedly about their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren.
As for Pitt, a source close to the actor insisted that he had never hit any of the 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, despite admitting that he had been drinking.
The news comes amid speculation that Pitt and Jolie’s eight-year-old divorce is still ongoing because both stars can’t “let go.”
Pitt and Jolie began dating publicly shortly after he and then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced their divorce in 2005.
The “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-stars remained single for years despite having adopted and biological 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren, but they got engaged in 2012 and eventually married in 2014. However, Jolie filed for divorce two years later in 206. She and Pitt were declared legally single in 2019.
Pitt is currently dating Ines de Ramon, 35.
