Nick Jonas and former Miss World Priyanka Chopra had a traditional wedding ceremony on December 2 in India. The love story of the couple, who have a 10-year age gap, is very interesting and surprising.

According to people around him, although he is 10 years younger than his wife (Nick Jonas is 26 years old this year and Priyanka Chopra is 36), the male singer is the one who acts more mature. Chopra even nicknamed her husband “Old Man Jonas”.

And that is clearly shown in the way Nick Jonas “wooed” Priyanka Chopra: very traditional and reserved, to the point that the Quantico actress  , an Indian woman, was offended.

Decided to get married after 3 dates

Nick Jonas was the one who took the initiative to get to know Priyanka Chopra, who was then rising to fame with her role in the series  Quantico . Nick sent a message to Priyanka Chopra’s co-star in the series, Graham Rogers, with just three words: “Priyanka. Is. Wow.”

“This is not how I usually talk about someone,” Nick Jonas said. He then sent a message to Priyanka Chopra via Twitter: “A mutual friend suggested we meet.” The actress then proactively gave the singer her private phone number, because any messages on social media could be read by her team.

The two texted back and forth, clearly flirting. But it wasn’t until a while later that they met in person, at the  Vanity Fair after-Oscar party last year.

Nick Jonas was standing at the bar in a velvet suit with a white rose pinned to his lapel, when Priyanka Chopra walked past in a black Michael Kors dress.

“So I put down my glass, and in front of quite a few people, I got down on one knee and asked her: ‘Are you real? Where have you been all my life?’

Of course, with such a sweet question, Priyanka, even though she was about to go to the airport to return to India, still decided to stay and drink with this crazy fan.

Ahead of the 2017 Met Gala, Priyanka Chopra invited Nick Jonas to her apartment, where her mother was home. The two chatted for a few hours, and when Jonas left, “He patted me on the back,” Priyanka Chopra told reporters in this interview ahead of her wedding.

Nick Jonas admitted: “Yeah, no goodbye kiss. Nothing. She’s still upset about it.” The former beauty queen couldn’t hide her resentment when describing her boyfriend’s actions at that time: “A pat on the back to say goodbye.”

“Well, your mom’s home,” Nick Jonas defended. “I think we should show respect, especially on the first date.”

The pair later had a blast at the Met Gala. Even Nick Jonas’ brother Joe noticed his brother was head over  heels for the Quantico actress  : “He was sitting on the floor like a puppy.”

A year later, the two met again, again at the Met Gala, this time on the red carpet. Later that month, Nick Jonas invited Priyanka Chopra to see the musical  Beauty and the Beast . They met at the Chateau Marmont.

“When she walked into the Chateau, I felt a sense of peace and I envisioned the next chapter of my life,” he recalls. The following night, the two went to a baseball game. The next morning, he called his mother and told her he was marrying Priyanka Chopra. All after just three dates.

The Jewel of India

Nick Jonas proposed on the island of Crete (Greece). Priyanka Chopra thought it was just a normal 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day trip. The singer waited until midnight so that his girlfriend wouldn’t have to suffer the disadvantage of celebrating her 𝐛𝐢𝐫𝐭𝐡day and engagement on the same day.

“I got down on one knee, again, and said, ‘Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?’ And now it was his turn to “gossip” about his wife: “She was silent for 45 seconds. For 45 seconds.” (Priyanka Chopra said she was so emotional that she couldn’t speak at the time.)

And then Nick Jonas reminded: “If you don’t object, I’ll put this ring on your finger.” So who is Priyanka Chopra that makes Nick Jonas so confused?

Priyanka Chopra is no stranger to the world, she is currently the brightest star of Indian cinema. She has participated in 50 films, including the first Indian superhero series to be shown on Netflix:  Krrish .

But Priyanka was famous even before she started acting, because she was crowned  Miss  India World. And in the same year, in 2000, she became Miss World.

In Hollywood, Priyanka has risen to prominence in recent years thanks to her role in the series  Quantico , which made her the first Indian woman to star in a primetime series in the US. Next February, she will appear alongside Rebel Wilson in the comedy  Isn’t It Romantic .

Priyanka Chopra has done what many Indian stars before her have failed to do: cross the threshold of Hollywood. “I was told by powerful people in the industry in India that this was unprecedented, that it would never work. You’re wasting your time,” she says.

Priyanka Chopra’s family is not artistic. Both her parents are doctors in the army. Her parents met at a party and got married 10 days later. So of course her mother had no objection when she accepted Nick Jonas’ proposal after they had only dated three times.

Nick Jonas is a former Disney music and film star, Priyanka Chopra is a Bollywood princess. Both have big egos, but have great sympathy for each other. Recalling their first date, the former beauty queen said she was impressed by him when he complimented her on being ambitious.

Their love story still surprises many audiences.

“As a woman, I’ve never heard men say they like my ambition. It’s usually the other way around,” she says. And in the past, Priyanka Chopra has never shared photos of herself with her boyfriend, because she thinks it’s not cool to reveal her love life to the public.

But with Nick Jonas, it’s different: “This guy makes me a little girl. He still makes me blush.”

The couple now own six homes, including in Mumbai, Mammoth and California. They had a lavish wedding in India with two ceremonies, one traditional Indian and one Christian.

“Everyone is going to need a break to recharge after our wedding,” Priyanka Chopra said.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas will circle the fire 7 times, symbolizing the 7 lifetimes they will have together. The singer said they have known each other for 3 previous lives, and are currently in their 4th lifetime together.

“I’m willing to live another 7 lives with her,” Nick Jonas shared.
