Forget about the ’90s and the early ’00s. Instead, Kylie Jenner clearly has the 2010s on her mind.
In a new post, the Khy founder threw her 397 million Instagram followers for a nostalgic loop by uploading selfies in which she is rocking a brand-new ’do. Gone is her signature jet black hair; in its place are tresses dyed teal blue. “Teal the end of time,” she cheekily captioned the pictures.
The post immediately prompted excitement among fans, who were quick to declare in the comments that “King Kylie” was back. For the uninitiated, King Kylie is a nickname that references Jenner’s stylistic era circa 2015–2016, during which she often colored her hair in vibrant and unexpected shades like blue and pink.
This isn’t the first time the mom of two has reminded us of her King Kylie era recently. In January, Jenner also shared surprise selfies in which she sported a cotton-candy hairstyle. And in April, she riled up her fans once more by donning a cherry-cola wig.
Jenner reflected on living through the mid-2010s in a 2020 interview for Harper’s Bazaar’s March 2020 cover story.
“I always knew my family was a big deal, but me, solo, probably around when my pop-ups started,” she said, citing the moment she realized her own fame was on the rise. “Or when I started dyeing my hair blue and cut my hair off, and then everyone started dyeing their hair blue and cutting it off. And I was like, ‘Whoa.’ I realized what an influence I had. I was probably like 16.”
