Myles Turner could be perfect for the Chicago Bulls

Myles Turner could be the center the Bulls need to take the next step.

As stellar as the Chicago Bulls’ defense was late in the season, they still lacked a legitimate rim protector who could block or alter shots of opponents who dared venture into the paint. Nikola Vucevic, the Bulls’ starting center for the last few seasons, is a nightly double-double threat, but his forte remains offense, not defense. This is where someone like the Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner could be absolutely valuable for the Bulls. A recent article by Bleacher Report that discussed ambitious trade targets for every team mentioned the former Texas star as a player the Bulls should target this offseason.

Versatile big man

Myles Turner is a former first-round pick who stands at 6’11” and has outstanding paint and rim protection s𝓀𝒾𝓁𝓁s. His length and athleticism make it difficult for opponents to even get off shots near the basket if he’s around, and his ability to switch on screens allows him to defend multiple positions.

His offensive game is still developing, but after averaging 18 points on 54% shooting, it’s clear the potential is there for him to become a reliable contributor on that end of the floor. He’s also a career 35% shooter from three, giving him range and floor-spacing ability.

“A lack of spacing and shooting plagued the Chicago Bulls all season long. Myles Turner takes care of that,” via Bleacher Report.

Can a trade be worked out?

At just 27 years of age, Turner represents a win-now option for any team looking to acquire him. He’s in the prime of his career, and he fills so many essential roles on both ends of the floor that it makes sense why contenders are interested in trading for him.

It won’t be easy to pull off a trade for Turner; the Bulls may need to sign-and-trade Vooch and send some young prospects to the Pacers to get a deal done. But if they can manage it, Turner could prove to be a crucial piece for the Bulls in their hopes of competing for an NBA championship next season.
