Injured Jordan Spieth Doesn’t Shy Away From Golf: Partners With Tiger Woods as $150M Project Revives Dreams

Jordan Spieth was suffering from a wrist injury earlier in August. He had to undergo surgery for the pain. “The operation went smoothly and I’m grateful for the exceptional medical team and support of Annie and my family,” he wrote after the successful procedure. While it might have started bothering him recently, he had been dealing with the injury since May 2023. He was injured while playing with his son, Sammy. Spieth managed to avoid surgery for a time by resting and recovering.

However, it did not fully heal, and even at the RBC Heritage, a tendon in his wrist popped out in April, forcing him to withdraw. Following the surgery, he will undoubtedly focus on fully recovering before returning to play. Until then, it seems he has other plans in mind.

Jordan Spieth to join Tiger Woods for backing the Cobbs Creek Project

Tiger Woods collaborated with baseball superstar Mike Trout to construct a private 18-hole golf course in New Jersey. It was initially called the Trout National- The Reserve. It is being designed by Woods’ architectural firm, TGR Design. Additionally, they decided to build a short course as part of the Cobbs Creek Golf Club in Philadelphia.

Well, looks like the golfing phenom is no longer alone in the project. “Tiger Woods has been joined by professional golfer Jordan Spieth in backing a $150 million restoration and expansion of the Cobbs Creek Golf Campus in West Philadelphia and Upper Darby,” as was reported by John George from the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The 3X Major Champion has donated a whopping $250,000 grant through the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation. This amount was contributed to build a junior putting green, covering the entire cost of the planned 20,000-square-foot green. This initiative aims to introduce young talents to the game, helping to ensure a bright future for golf.

Where will the putting green be constructed?

The junior putting green requested by Jordan Spieth will be built just outside the TGR Learning Lab, an education center for local youth in Anaheim, California. The lab provides interactive, career-focused STEM experiences for middle and high school students during the summer months. This location will make the green even more special for young golfing fans to discover the sport.

Additionally, the Cobbs Creek Foundation has announced its partnership with Tiger Woods’ charity, the TGR Foundation, to help build the center. Both projects are expected to be completed by 2025. “Golf is a great vehicle to learn valuable life lessons, as well as receive comprehensive mentorship and support,” Annie Spieth, Jordan’s wife, said in a statement.
