Khloé Kardashian opened up about the cancerous tumor she had removed from her cheek in 2022 and explained why she decided to receive facial injections after the procedure.
“As a result of the surgery, and the tumor my incredible doctor removed, I ended up with an indentation in the side of my face,” Kardashian, 40, explained in a Friday, October 11, Snapchat post, per E! News. “I waited nine months after surgery to get the indentation filled.”
She went on to note: “We had to make sure medically everything was safe and my doctor gave me the go ahead.”
Kardashian showed the results of the facial injections in a photo collage, which featured pics of her cheek indentation before and after the surgery. “You can see the difference between the before and after,” she wrote alongside the snaps, two of which noticeably showed her right cheek fuller than it was before the injections.
The reality star announced her tumor removal in October 2022 in response to fan questions about a bandage on her face. “After noticing a small bump on my face and assuming it was something as minor as a zit, I decided to get it biopsied 7 months after realizing it was not budging,” she explained via her Instagram Story at the time.
After the spot was examined by doctors, Kardashian said they determined the rumor was “incredibly rare” for someone her age and was advised to undergo “an immediate operation” to remove it.
She also encouraged fans to get regular skin cancer checks, recalling having a melanoma spot removed when she was 19. “We should be checking all the time,” she shared. “I am someone who wears sunscreen every single day, religiously so no one is exempt from these things. Please take this seriously and do regular self-exams as well as your annual checkups.”
The Kardashians star showed off her facial scar in a March 2023 Instagram workout video. She clapped back at an Instagram user who commented, “Do you miss your old face?” by simply writing, “No.”
She shared more pics of her scar via her Instagram Story that September, including a snap of the tumor — which she “thought was a pimple for almost a year” — and her cheek stitched up after surgery.
“I know this looks crazy and pretty massive, which it was, but for all good reason [Dr. Garth Fisher] made sure to protect the stitches and make sure everything was as flat as possible so there was no stretching of the scar, incision area, and we tried to avoid keloiding as much as possible,” she captioned the pics. “He’s just the best.”
Nearly two years after sharing her tumor news, Kardashian is enjoying spending quality time with her kids, True, 6, and Tatum, 2, whom she shares with ex Tristan Thompson. She shared several snaps of herself and her kids’ trip to Disneyland in California via Snapchat on Sunday, October 13.
“Family day at Disneyland🤍” she captioned a pic of herself, Tatum and her mom, Kris Jenner, on the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride, which she also shared via her Instagram Story with a link to her Snapchat page.
