Mortal Kombat 2 could include three major Mortal Kombat characters in the sequel’s roster. The Mortal Kombat franchise returned to the big-screen at last with the 2021 reboot Mortal Kombat, in which MMA fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan) finds himself recruited to fight for Earthrealm against the forces of Outworld. Mortal Kombat includes many famous characters from the games that inspired it, including Bi-Han a.k.a. Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), and it seems the 2021 film might not be his last appearance in the franchise.
With Mortal Kombat 2 set to enter production in summer 2023, Mortal Kombat producer Todd Garner tweeted an image of himself alongside Joe Taslim and Chin Han (who plays Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat). With Garner’s post including the caption “2…” and both Taslim and Han making a peace sign in the image, this heavily implies that both Taslim and Han will be returning for Mortal Kombat 2. In Taslim’s case, his return as Bi-Han in Mortal Kombat 2 could also set up no fewer than three legendary Mortal Kombat characters to appear in the sequel.
