Liz Cheney warns on “The View” that Americans should ‘prepare themselves,’ Donald Trump will ‘melt down’ if he loses election

Cheney joined the one day before Americans head to the polls, and urged voters to be cautious that Trump has “already begun pushing notions about rigged elections.”

With hours to go before Americans head to the polls to elect the next President of the United States, lifelong Republican politician Liz Cheney issued a concerning warning about her party’s candidate during an impassioned appearance on The View.

The 58-year-old former Wyoming congresswoman (and daughter of Dick Cheney) joined the talk show Monday morning with a final message for voters ahead of the 2024 election, days after Republican candidate Donald Trump made headlines for suggesting that he’d like to turn the tables and see Cheney’s reaction to rifles “shooting at her” with regard to sending American troops into combat.

“I have fears — I think many people have fears — of history repeating itself,” conservative View panelist and former Trump associate Alyssa Farah Griffin asked Cheney at the Hot Topics table, referencing the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol that occurred weeks after Griffin resigned from Trump’s administration and subsequently spoke out against him.

“So, if Kamala Harris wins, do you think we should anticipate another Stop the Steal effort? What could that look like, how can we be ready, what do you expect?”

Cheney replied, cautioning that “everybody across this country has to be aware that the Trump campaign has already begun pushing notions about rigged elections, stolen elections,” and “fraudulent claims.” Trump recently spoke to supporters at a rally in Arizona, where he said that “cheating” is the only thing that could stop his bid for the White House.

“Everybody’s got to be aware that they’re going to do it. We’re in a much better place at the local level to help defend against those fraudulent claims, but people just to need to be aware. You’re going to see Donald Trump continue to melt down,” Cheney continued.

“You see him completely lose it because his microphone doesn’t work. Finally, nobody’s talking much abut the fact that he said it was hard for him to hold up the microphone? Really? That’s stressing you out? I think people just need to prepare themselves for what he’s going to do, and know there are far more Americans that want our system to succeed than those who want us to fail.”

Trump and his surrogates — including VP pick J.D. Vance — have long drawn criticism for their comments about the results of the 2020 election, with Vance even refusing to admit that Trump lost the contest (and even pointed to a peaceful transition of power) during his Oct. 1 debate against Harris’ VP pick, Tim Walz.

Cheney has appeared several times on The View in the past, including in January when she warned Americans that the country wouldn’t survive Trump “torching the Constitution” if he was elected to a second term.

“There are some conservatives who are trying to make this claim that somehow Biden is a bigger risk than Trump,” Cheney said at the time, when President Joe Biden was still the Democratic candidate. “My view is, I disagree with a lot of Joe Biden’s policies. We can survive bad policies. We can not survive torching the constitution. It’s not even the same level.”
