An exceptional 24-year-old lady named Maria Aretha James has bagged a doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from Towson University in the United States of America. She also won the PhD program’s Leadership and advocacy award.
Dr. Maria James is an Antigua and Barbuda national, she was one of the only two Black students in a class of 20 that graduated from Towson University.
Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Dr Maria received her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Oakwood University in Alabama, United States.
Maria’s family are really very proud of her achievement at the prestigious university.
Though they are not surprised by her accomplishment at an early age because she has always been a brilliant woman.
Her doctoral thesis is focused on culturally responsive care for adolescents with complex trauma. Maria said she is excited to begin her career in occupational therapy.
