Many people will probably be surprised by the closeness of these two Hollywood stars.
Strong friendships in Hollywood are not unusual. Jack Black and Angelina Jolie may not be as affectionate as Ben Affleck and Matt Damon but their relationship is more than just industry friends. The “Maleficent” actor rarely talks about his personal life, so some fans may be surprised to learn that she and Jack Black are friends outside of work.
Although many fans may think that Jack Black and Angelina Jolie first fell in love while making “Kung Fu Panda”, that is not the case. They connect on another work: “Shark Tale”. 2004 family film starring Will Smith, Renee Zellweger, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Black, and Jolie.
In a 2011 interview with the Daily Herald, Jolie reminisced about their first official meeting. “‘Shark Tale’ is the beginning of a budding friendship,” she said. Not long after “Shark Tale”, the pair collaborated again on the first “Kung Fu Panda” movie and went on to make two sequels.
Even their whole family has become good friends after many years of working. Back in 2016, the whole world was thrilled to learn that the Jolie-Pitt family and Jack Black family had their annual Easter outings together.
Rumor has it that when Brad Pitt and Jolie got married, she made an appointment with Black to invite him and his family to an Easter egg hunt and lunch. He joked about not even celebrating his own religious holidays but there was no way he would turn down the couple’s invitation.
“I’m a Jew, so I don’t really understand Easter traditions, but I do know this: Easter at Brad and Angie was amazing,” Black once told People. “The kids love it and so do I.” Jolie also insisted that was the only occasion they wanted to see each other.
“Kung Fu Panda 3” hit theaters in January 2016 with a host of guest voice actors in the cast. Jolie’s four 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren – Shiloh, Zahara, Pax, Knox and Black’s son Samuel – also joined the fun. Jolie said her 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren take the job very seriously, but when it’s over, they tell her she has an easy job.
It’s unclear if the two families will ever “reunite” on the big screen again, as Black has previously said that he believes the three “Kung Fu Panda” films are final. However, that doesn’t mean a future family reunion can’t happen, especially if their 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren join the acting bug.
