Leopard 1 tanks
Ukraine is set to receive “dozens” of Leopard-1 tanks from Germany and Denmark in the coming weeks, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in an interview with Polish media outlet Rzeczpospolita on July 3.
According to the minister, Germany currently ranks second in providing military equipment support to Ukraine among Western allies. It also provides both direct and indirect assistance through EU financial aid, Pistorius noted.
Additionally, Germany participates in training of Ukrainian soldiers.
“Dozens of Leopard-1A5 battle tanks provided by Germany and Denmark will arrive in Ukraine in the upcoming weeks,” Pistorius said.
On Feb. 7, Berlin granted German military companies a license to supply Ukraine with 178 Leopard-1A5 tanks.
On April 28, Pistorius stated Ukraine will begin receiving Leopard-1A5 main battle tanks in mid-2023.
