A mid-century house is not necessarily a home in traditional brown, beige and black with mid-century furnishings, and architect John Barthel proved that. The first thing that surprises is a dramatic roof line: a pair of soaring geometric angular folded roofs that shelter two rotated living volumes beneath and float effortlessly above the site’s lush. The entry shows that it’s a work of art with the mural room divider painted by the architect. The furniture is bright and colorful, in perfect style and in harmony with each other. The main beauty is the art collection, mostly done by the architect that can be found throughout the house.
