Angelina Jolie and her son Maddox made it to Washington, D.C. for a special occasion—a State Dinner with President Biden and South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol. For the dinner, which “celebrates the 70th anniversary of the U.S.–ROK alliance,” the actress-humanitarian wore a chic ivory Chanel gown with a high-slit (much like the high-slit black dress she wore for a dinner in New York City) and a white blazer.

The Girl, Interrupted star wore a vintage Chanel jacket and a dreamy ivory gown that featured a floor-sweeping skirt and a discreet high-slit. The dress, which was made for her years ago according to a source, also had a drop waistline which was further highlighted by a crisscrossing pattern of fabric. She wore the vintage Chanel blazer chicly over her shoulders. The blazer was the same cream-ivory hue with quilted detailing on the lapels. It made her dress feel less like the full-glam looks we’ve seen on the red carpet and more professional (much like the white wrap dress she wore shopping amid drama with her ex-husband Brad Pitt).
For the State Dinner with President Biden and President Yoon, Angelina went with all gold accessories. She donned a simple beaded necklace, drop earrings, and a clutch. And for glam, the filmmaker opted for her signature bold red lip and wore her brunette hair down in soft, beach waves that effortlessly fell past her shoulders. Her son Maddox, on the other hand, was dressed to the nines in a three-piece tuxedo complete with black trousers, a white button-down shirt, a black tie, and a long black blazer.
A source close to Angelina tells PEOPLE, “Asia-America relations are important to Angelina’s family. She and the 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren have had close ties to the region, including South Korea, for many years. Maddox studied at Yonsei University in Seoul. Angelina has visited South Korea many times for her humanitarian and refugee advocacy over the past two decades and as an artist. Angelina and Maddox are honored to attend this State Dinner.”

Although Angelina did not post their outfits to her Instagram account, fans on Twitter were quick to praise the actress and her son’s ensemble. Many posted throwback photos of the mother and son. “They grow up so fast” someone tweeted with a crying emoji, while another said about Maddox’s outfit, “Wait why did he serve?” “She’s like an angel” one fan replied, while another wrote, “She’s so beautiful,” and a third chimed in with, “Angie is so classy!” Another fan jokingly quipped, “Hands on your knees I’m,” with a gif of the actress, referencing the song “Peppers” by musician Lana del Rey.
Other fans couldn’t help but notice that Angelina looks so much healthier and happier since her tumultuous divorce from actor Brad, “So happy she looks healthier now!”
