Picking a role in a movie can be tricky sometimes. Not a lot of actors can make the right choices, considering their acting abilities and the story a film has to tell. But, hitting the right projects is what separates the cream from the crop. Pick any film that the A-listers of Hollywood usually star in, and imagine if someone else can replace them. It’s hard right?
Well, this almost happened with Leonardo DiCaprio’s one film that will forever live in our hearts. The reason behind this was the director – James Cameron. The director is known to produce and direct films that ensue massive stardom for the actors, and a lot of times they are not ready for that.

Nonetheless, Cameron’s films have been able to showcase his legendary vision as he has an eye for detail that most other directors in the industry don’t seem to have. That’s what makes him the most sought-after director to work with.

The Film That Showed Leonardo DiCaprio Real Stardom
Capturing the vastness of the ocean and a massive ship that could not survive mother nature, Titanic is a film that only Cameron could have pulled off. It took us through the journey of the ship’s beautiful voyage till she went down into the depths of darkness.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet made the film all the more magical with their sweet romance and unending love for each other that we can still feel in our souls.

Although Cameron had explored highly exotic films in the past, like Terminator, Aliens, and The Abyss, he never imagined the level of success Titanic would bring him.
It went on to smash the box office and remained the highest-grossing film for a decade with a collection crossing $2.2 Billion.

This Mission Impossible Star Almost Played Jack Dawson In Titanic
With a career of hit-and-miss, mostly misses, Billy Crudup turned down the role in this mega-blockbuster that could have defined his career for generations to come.
Exactly how we’ve been witnessing Leonardo DiCaprio over these years being the best at his game. Billy Crudup used to share very similar acting chops with DiCaprio but could manage to get a breakthrough with Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible III back in 2006.

But it looks like the Watchmen actor was not prepared for the massive success and media frenzy with such a high-profile director and film.
He said –
“If I had done Titanic, it would have made probably $200,000 worldwide. So I think my life would have been very, very similar.”

At least the 55-year-old acknowledges that Leonardo DiCaprio was the only fit candidate for the role and he doesn’t have regrets about it. Billy Crudup is rather enjoying his time with the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, starring alongside Jennifer Aniston, Steve Carell, and Reese Witherspoon. Season 3 comes this September.
