American star actress, Angela Bassett has set an outstanding record after becoming the highest-paid African-American actress in Hollywood TV history.
Angela Bassett who turned 64 years old in August 2022 has had an incredible 38 years of acting career in the United States and has won several awards. Among her most notable awards were her two Oscar nominations.
She clinched her first Oscar award in 1993 as the Best Actress for her portrayal of Tina Turner in the movie “What’s Love Got to Do with It (1993)”. She won her second Oscar nomination in 2022 for her role of Queen Ramonda in the movie “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)”.
She has many other awards to her name including two Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award (Outstanding Cast for Black Panther), two Critics’ Choice Awards, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards, seven Emmy Awards and a BAFTA Award, per Wikipedia.
Angela Bassett’s incredible career has finally earned her an all-time record after she successfully renegotiated her salary for featuring in the TV series “9-1-1” to make her earn a whopping $450,000 per episode.
According to Vanity Fair, her $450,000 salary is historic and could now make her become one of the highest-paid black actresses in network television.
“That is believed to be among the top salaries on network television for any actor — male or female — and could be the highest ever for an actress of color on a broadcast drama series,” the Outlet reported.
