Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer was left really impressed with the performance of teammate Nicolas Jackson tonight against Tottenham.
He told Sky Sports that this now needs to be the start for the 22-year-old to build on after a difficult start to the campaign.
In what started out as another really difficult evening for Jackson, he left North London with the match ball after scoring a hat-trick.
The Blues spent the majority of the game playing against less players than they had on the pitch, however they struggled badly to break down a resilient Spurs side.
Jackson scored three goals in the last 20 minutes to put the game to bed, however there will not be a great deal of confidence taken going in to a tricky run of fixtures.
Palmer praises Jackson
Palmer left the game with a goal and assist of his own, and was full of praise for Jackson after the game.
He said: “This was the start of it: Difficult start for him, no hiding it but he was brilliant tonight and he just needs to work hard on the training ground.”
Despite the inadequate performance, a hat-trick will surely see Jackson keep his place in the side for a tricky set of fixtures.
Palmer meanwhile proved why he is one of the first names on the teamsheet right now, and he will no doubt be the man everyone is looking to create chances right now.
Mauricio Pochettino will now be preparing for the even bigger challenge of Manchester City at the weekend.
